In place of the advertised talk (the speaker is now unavailable), Dr. Stephen Walker will review his recent work investigating the workers at the Darley Abbey mills. The Evans’ mills at Darley Abbey date from the late 1770s and were similar to the Robinson’s mills at Papplewick, but were worked for much longer. Stephen has been exploring the migration of textile workers in the 19th century using the evidence of census records and parish records to chart their movement.
